Symmetrical Drawing

For art today, we did a fun symmetrical drawing activity inspired by our Grade 6 helpers (who did a similar task earlier in the year). For this task, we first had to review what symmetry was; Megan remembered that symmetry is a “mirror image, where both sides are the same”. Then, we had to review how to use pencil to sketch objects. Joey from Grade 6 showed us how to make dark lines by repeatedly colouring over the same area, as well as how to make a lighter lines by pressing lightly on your pencil. Last, I showed the students a page with only half a face and asked them to sketch the other half. I think that the students were delighted to sketch their favourite teacher!!!
