Letter from Mrs. Feere

Our shared reading this week is a letter from Mrs. Feere. Yesterday, we discussed the purpose of writing letters (to share information or ask questions) and we talked about our experiences with sending or recieving letters… Or emails.

Then, I asked the students to predict what the letter I wrote might be about. The predictions ranged from “Mrs. Feere is quitting” to “Mrs. Feere is telling us that we are the best class ever!”.

Today, we examined the first portion of the letter. We looked at the various features of a letter, such as the address, the date and the greeting. We also discussed how a letter compares to other texts, such as books.

Tomorrow we will begin reading the letter and learn more about the features of letters.
