Debating “in Role”

This week we have been reading Pigsty a story about a boy that refused to clean his room until it became infested with pigs. 


Today we paused at the part when the boys point of view changed – he became tired of the pigs and the mess. 


After reading, I challenged the students to think about what Wendell might do, how the pigs might react and how the story might end. In groups, the students used their puppets (created in Visual Arts on Monday) to act out a debate between the boy and the pig(s) and showed how the story might end.
