Our Busy Brains

Today we reviewed our learning about our brains. Then we discussed how our bodies and brain reacts when we feel scared, angry or frustrated. To show the students a visual of what is happening in the brain during these emotions, we made this:

We learned that when we feel scared or angry, our amygdala is on alert and scatters information, just like the glitter scatters when we shake the jar. The settling solution represents the calming mind – eventually bits of information flow in a clear direction.
