Treasuring our Differences

Today, I asked the students to close their eyes and visualize while I told them a story. The story was about a person exploring a jungle and stumbling upon a cave; inside the cave was a treasure chest withprecious items in it.

Next, I gave each student a treasure chest and asked them to decorate it to match their visualization and to draw the three items on the back. After, students presented their items to the class.

Finally, we discussed how we all had different items in our chests. We identified that no items were “wrong” and it’s okay that we all visualized different thing, because we have different experiences and different personalities. The goal is for us to take this discovery and to apply it to our visualizing.
